happy birthday to… me

hoo, boy.

what a great day!

it started with streamers strung throughout the kitchen and dining room.

somebody around here is creative.

want to know what other fun we had?

well, a dozen of us gathered for breakfast at jenny’s.

that was fun.  thanks, jenny!

when we got home, sara and i both rode sunny and tireachan,

who really needed a little attention.

it was a glorious fall day, perfect for spending time outdoors with the animals.

caoinlean was a little sad that he is not yet old enough to be ridden,

because it looked like fun.

tir did his best to reassure him that his turn would come.

then farmer brandt showed up with apples.

baby meadbh has already decided that those are pretty good!

cormac does not quite believe her.

otis, however, knows this to be true and wanted MORE.

this balletic move by farmer brandt is not for the sake of dance,

but to save apples for the others.

who by this time had figured out there was a party going on.

everyone managed to get their fair share.

this in itself would be a good day, right?

not done yet!

after finishing with the horses and turning them out for some grazing time,

sara and i went for a little country walk.

we’ve lived here for three weeks, and this is the first time we ventured beyond the property lines.

the deep fall colors begged for attention,

and i was apparently enamored with old barbed wire.

…and back to our driveway.

i love it the best of all.

the chickens were out in the yard waiting for us,

the deck aglow in the evening sun.

farmer brandt had decided to hop on the john deere and mow the lawn.

vroom vroom, f.b.!

pretty perfect day, right?

and then this, the frosting on the cake:

we live in wonderland.
