friday archives, part 14

March 15, 2014

i am of two minds when it comes to these archive photos…

(and yes, i do realize that i am of two minds when it comes to just about anything.)

you see, the whole archive concept came about because of having a dangerous overload

of photos on my computer, largely due to my reluctance to delete anything

containing a faintly discernable image,

especially if it was a photo that i could not easily replicate.

as time goes by i realize that i cannot support a collection of this size,

and i thought that it would motivate me to edit my collection

if i could do something creative as a result of all this work.

i am now at that questioning point where i’m concerned

that it may be unfair to punish you readers like this.

world travels may be interesting,

horses and art may be interesting,

but there are decided dry spells in my photography

that leave me with little to show for the week’s work.

this is one of those weeks.

what follows is a lot of play with different photo apps,

largely hipstamatic which was new to me at that time.

clearly i am hungry for sunshine and color,

which was abundant in august, 2010 when these were taken.

and a couple of shots of the flatirons above boulder:

which really are this beautiful on almost any given day.

i treasure this quick snapshot of my granddaughter smiling though the screen

at those of us dining on the patio:

and finally a couple of shots taken with a kaleidoscope app

which indicates nothing but pattern and color:

********

if you have been so kind as to stay with me for the duration of this post

i shall attempt to keep you au courant with what’s been going on here this week:

IMG_1060

the season of the sheddy monsters has begun!!!!

underneath all that hair we will discover sleek, glossy, well-toned, shiny happy horses!

yaaaaay!

i can only imagine that shedding is quite exhausting, however…

IMG_1050

as the other day ALL SEVEN of them were snoozing in the arena at the same time!

(yes, that clump in the middle is three horses in a row)

i apologize for the lack of focus here, but all i had was my cell phone and i

was on the other side of the fence

and i figured if i got any closer it would be a picture of two or three snoozing horses at best.

this may prove my point:

the donkeys were napping together yesterday so i took their photos:

and otis.

oh, well…

now that the weather has warmed up i can take the dogs out to the back for nice, slow walks

with lots of sniffing stops:

brodie, the dalmatian, is 15 this year,

and otto, the dachshund, is 14.

they’ve both had a couple of rough weeks health-wise,

but i’m happy to say that things are looking decidedly better.

i love being out there with them,

spending time doing something good for all of us.

i am rereading virginia woolf’s moments of being,

and am on a quest to add more moments of such to my life.

i can truthfully say that when i was outside with these dogs,

IMG_1096

i just be’d.

happy weekending, my friends!

I enjoyed seeing some “older” photos – especially the sunflowers and your sweet granddaughter! The horses and donkeys are always fun to see. Our dog and cats are shedding, too, but nothing like your horses! I think most of the time when we’re outdoors we are in the moment, which is a very good thing. Have a good weekend Janet!

i’m so glad you enjoy the photos! every spring i wish that we could find a market for shed horse hair– we could be wealthy! today i’m pretty sure the wind took some of the loose hair off of them– good golly it blew hard! what signs of spring are you seeing in your neck of the woods? we have tulips and daffodils up, so hopefully the sudden explosion of color is just around the corner!

Sunflowers! Mexican tiles! Tucked in hooves and donkey eyes. All heart tuggers.
The Flatirons could never not look magical & unique.
You just “be’d” beautiful, smiling at the end.

i hope your trip home was restful and grounding. i head that way very soon.
finally spring is beginning to conquer winter here– relapses occasionally, but the songbirds have returned and they bring much hope!! wishing you birdsong-filled mornings!

Two minds are better than one, right? If horses are shedding, it must be almost summer. I’m going to try the library for Moments of Being. A little being goes a long way.
