studio update
i’m not gonna lie…
getting the studio set up was a bit daunting.
everything that was obviously art-related was put in here,
as well as things that had no other apparent home.
every other room in the house came together quickly,
but this one i had to chip away at.
finally, finally, i am down to the last two moving boxes.
and although there is still sorting and rearranging to be done,
a studio of sorts has emerged.
the slanted drawing table has been replaced by a large rectangular table where i can lay things out,
like the recent batch of metallic prints i processed when i was having a blue and gold day.
color is one of my greatest inspirations.
(giving rise to the question of why, exactly, i have an essentially monochromatic horse herd??
balance, people. the yin to my yang.
plus, i couldn’t locate orange and green gypsies.)
my collection of art papers is visible and accessible rather than rolled and stored in drawers.
my writing table has been taken over by my plant passion…
meaning that in order to get anything done i have to clear a work space.
one of the biggest draws, at least for the grandkids, is the hammock.
i hadn’t intended to put it in here, but there were two HUGE eyebolts already in place.
it seemed like a sign.
the small folk would agree.
i have plenty of storage and plenty of space to display collections
that keep me inspired by the wonders of nature.
and, truth be told,
right across the hall i have a photo studio
(aka “the computer room”),
where all the prints that used to hang in my office at school
have now found their new home,
along with some new friends.
(don’t worry– the canvas print of meadbh will hang above these,
as soon as i have help reaching that high.)
so, now it’s time to get crackin’.
got the studio, got the time, got the life…
it’s just funny how “retirement” bears a striking resemblance to the rest of life!
All that space looks dreamy. Isn’t it ironic that I have a buffalo purse from The Plume in the same colors?
janet!!!!
i have been meaning to write you forever.
we’re going to tortugas tonight, and that always makes me think of you.
next time you’re this way you must come over and meet the herd for horse hugs.
email me your snail mail address, please.
xx
p.s. as for the purse, i’ve given up any sense of irony at the similarities between us. 😉
We’re moving back in June. Should anything catch your eye in the way of a home for two cats, two Corgi’s and two humans, do let us know. We’ll continue to rent my condo. Can’t wait to meet the herd for horse hugs. In the meantime, you can reach me at 505 Cedar Drive, Enterprise AL 36330.
i was going to suggest that you invite mister greenie blue boy from next door to help you organize. most likely that is why he has been hanging around, peering into your windows, planning a set-up for your studio.
and i was thinking that the gypsies would most likely want to help organize, also.
but it appears you did *OK* on your own…. [smile]
xx
oh, marie!
methinks greenie would rather instigate a take-over than a set-up!
he can be a bit territorial.
as for the gypsies, i had to work on their “organizational” skills today…
did you know they’re into “fencing”?
no, not the sport. they march up and down the fence line marking their own territory.
i should be glad, i suppose, that they keep their open area free and clear.
especially when they ROLL!!
xx
Janet, thank you! I am so glad you shared your studio space. I love the beautiful glass window coverings. I am envious that you have an entire room dedicated to the creative process. Cheers to you!
yes, katie, this one was for you! now, come on over and we’ll create something!
