greenie came over

February 1, 2013

today was a quiet day,

and then i heard an unmistakeable sound.

(go to “peacock cries twice”, and that’s greenie.)

it was the “neighbor” who drops in from time to time,

coming to pay me a visit.

DSC03392

i think he knew that i needed a little company.

as i looked for him,

greenie was looking for me.

DSC03368

he’s a character, that bird.

he loves to sit on the deck railing,

right between two windows.

that’s nice, actually,

because i can photograph him from both sides.

he was feeling a bit playful today,

and had it not been for reflections off of the glass

i’d have had some very entertaining head shots.

DSC03373

oh, well.

i got some nice shots of his polychromatic tail.

DSC03377

dazzling.

truly.

DSC03376

i’m especially taken by the contrast between the feathers with the eye

and the long, thin strands that drape from the sides like neon spaghetti.

DSC03380

yes, he’s a little bit of magic, that bird.

somehow i never imagined that i’d live a life where peacocks would come calling,

happy to stay and pose for a photo shoot.

further proof that we live in a world of possibility.

greenie

life is good.

thanks for being here.

xx

      funny you say that!
he does not like men, or is it that he likes them too much?!
i’ve been in the barn with him (didn’t know he was in there!) and he was just fine.
      he’s quite the yard ornament!

    such a charming neighbour.
    i miss that cry, albeit sometimes it’s a bit eerie a sound….

yes, it is an eerie sound, but i like it when he lets me know he’s here.
then i don’t accidentally let the dogs out.
      the other creatures?
      they could care less!

Wow! Who knew, is right! Walk through an open door, and you never know what’s waiting for you! Lily and I were looking at your pictures and she was asking me if those were professional photos… I told her YES! πŸ™‚ YOU are a pro and embracing and encouraging the “what ifs”, and capturing them for all of us to enjoy! xoxo

i love that you are sharing these little bits of magic with lily! i think that one of the best ways to be happy in life is to nurture and sustain our childlike sense of wonder that sadly gets worn away by the abrasion of daily life. the world is an amazing place– for everyone! you are a constant source of joy in my life– thanks, tara! xoxo

How fun! I love peacocks, and got some really good shots of a few at a petting zoo a few years ago, but I’ve never had the opportunity to have them just wander around or keep me company. You are one lucky gal! πŸ˜‰
