December 29, 2012

2012 has been a year of many changes.

the word that i chose to guide me in 2012 was “drawn”.

i meant it in two senses:

as in the art form of drawing (mildly successful),

as well as in the sense of allowing myself to be drawn to new opportunities and experiences (wildly successful).

my new life is crystallizing as i write this,

a life that i am stepping happily into moment by moment.

last night’s snow flurries,

accompanied by this morning’s hoarfrost,

presented me with a world of wonder today

that left little room for doubt…

behold the wonders of life and be grateful for them.

for each brave step you take in belief and trust,

an affirming sign will be given that is unmistakable.

there is much that i will share with you

in the days and weeks to come,

but as 2012 winds quietly to its close

i want to leave you with images that make it crystal clear

that all of life is filled with wonder…

even those moments when you choose to grab a camera

and go glove-free until it hurts

as the temperature hovers around zero

just because the moment presented itself

and you wouldn’t have missed it for anything.

life is made up of many parts.
it is in the coming together of these parts that its richness is mined.

and this life is good.

an owl is hooting at the full cold moon outside my window.

before i go and try to locate this lovely bird,

i am inspired  to offer a giveaway to be selected

from those who leave a comment on this post.

the name drawn will receive a 5 X 7 print of any photo from this blog post

I love this post as much as I love the photos that accompany it. I had a year of change, and not good change. I’m trying to accept and move on. Peace…

Ahhh…..Janet! Whenever I read your pages of “YOU”, I am always left with goodness in my heart. You have always inspired me, from when I met you almost 20 years ago (how can that be?) to this very day! Life leads us down many paths, but you seem to look, notice and embrace every step of the way that provides moments of gratitude. I look forward to going on your journey with you, via your blog, because you are a true gift to all of us that know and love you! xoxo Happy 2013!!!!

Mmm, such gorgeous photos! I love rime–it’s got to be one of my favorite things about winter, although it happens only once or twice a year. But I know that point so well, where you’ve pushed past the borders of comfort to be in the moment and take that gorgeous photo, cold aching hands, crick in your back, snow soaking through your boots, and all. A bit painful but somehow glorious at the same time, a bit like life, I think. ♥

so good to see you here, amy!
and yes, i do know how you’ve pushed through to get those spectacular shots.
      i’ve learned from your work!
sometimes it’s impossible to resist the beauty of the moment.
