best toys ever!!

October 2, 2012

as we enter week three of our new life on the farm

much has been accomplished and things are settling into a routine.

the weather is glorious,

and we are taking advantage of the indian summer days to spend a little time with the herd.

we found panels for a round pen on craigslist,

so we now have a wonderfully safe place to work all of the horses,

but especially the new babies.

today they had their first session,

focusing mainly on paying attention to the handler.

good thing i was there with the camera to provide distraction, eh?

actually, they behaved perfectly.

they have been handled so lovingly that they have absolute trust in us.

while sara was still working with meadbh i took cormac out to the back 40,

and he had no hesitation whatsoever.

even when he saw her coming in the distance

he was perfectly content to stand with me.

yup, we got some good ones here!

i highly recommend them.

in fact, should you be even remotely considering a little beast such as these,

complete with fuzzy ears and a coat as soft as angora,

i’ll let you in on a little secret…

any day now there will be another little one making his or her appearance up at the irish rose farm!

click on the parnell’s link in the right sidebar to find out when lee and lizzie’s foal arrives.

hey, sara and jill–   we don’t have a lee/lizzie baby yet…

kidding.  just kidding.

kind of.

life is good.

thanks for sharing it with us.

p.s.  just in case you ever wondered about the saying,

“the grass is always greener on the other side of the fence”,

tonight we saw proof.

after being allowed through the gate,

that’s as far as they went.

apparently, it’s greener just on the other side!

running a farm must be a fulltime job in and of itself.
do you need a chore-girl for the horses??
