earth art

June 22, 2012

we hiked the north ten mile trail today,

just past the gore range junction.

this lovely trail parallels the creek,

so we were accompanied by the song of rushing water most of the time.

it was time to have a little fun,

so we played with natural art materials.

it started with just me,

but it didn’t take long for my mountain man to join in.

we found a perfect place to stop for a little picnic along the creek,

and beneath the mossy branches of an old pine

i left a special little mandala in gratitude.

earth art wasn’t all we saw.

there were wish-makers:

and triplets:

wide open spaces

and a delicate little mountain orchid with a spotted throat

waterfalls in small,

medium,

and large:

we found a butterfly hanging upside down

and lincoln logs for grown-ups.

we head home tomorrow.

it has been a wonderful time.

life is good.
