the apple of my i

December 28, 2011

i always like to include something in my christmas gifting that i have made,

and this year i decided to be very practical and create something entertaining as well as useful.

i don’t know if i’ve ever mentioned how fond i am of apple technology (snort),

but i must say that apple makes it as easy as pie to create keepsakes worth keeping.

everyone in my immediate family, near and far, received the following:

the photos for each month were taken in the corresponding month of 2011

and represent the first year of the return of horses to our lives.

and yes, the calendar does indeed have pages of actual boxes for each day,

and best of all has all of our birthdays and anniversaries already printed in them…

even the horses’!

(this primarily so that i won’t forget any more of them…)

my parents, my own personal sisters (as opposed to the sassy ones)

and my niece each received a book as well to commemorate our visit to california in october

to celebrate my dad’s 90th!! birthday.

we had the grandest time, and i compiled all of our photos in an effort to capture all of the special moments.

i suppose it can be argued that these gifts weren’t exactly made by hand,

but i can certainly assure you that they were made with heart.

i love the idea of creating professional-looking keepsakes that archive family memories,

and apple makes that happen easily.

i’m excited about the new year that’s just around the corner,

and i have projects lined up and waiting.

this is the one that i’d like to bring to fruition next,

a published version of the handmade poetry chapbook i wrote

as part of my graduate work in the creative arts.

so there it is.  i have set my intent and made it public.

now maybe i’ll get it done!

why is it that gifts are so much easier to complete?

    Hi Janet,

I love the calendar pictures! Jan and I are very happy that we were able to facilitate your return to horses in such a grand and glorious fashion. (ps – are you publishing the full calendar – I’d love one for the bunkhouse/office?)

Best to you and the Tall Girls! Charlie
