a week touched by magic

December 28, 2011

a little bit of magic made this week oh-so-special:

•  a perfectly timed foot of fresh snow gave us a white christmas

yet allowed dry roads for holiday travel

•  a sub-zero winter solstice gave us a reason to gather for a hearty pot of chicken chili, sourdough rolls

the size of baseballs, delightful libations, a firepit into which we cast our bundles of things not invited into

2012, and a delicious pumpkin/cream cheese dip to munch on while playing games

•  horses let out for a christmas eve day frolic in the snow followed by the hanging of edible ornaments

to decorate their stalls

•  a christmas day celebration with a family that loves books–  enough to interrupt the gift-opening

for a quick little story

•  the cutest little sheriff you ever saw, who ended up incarcerating himself

for some unknown infraction

•  a quiet little race car driver who you would never guess

had hernia surgery just the week before

•  a cute little first-grader who only needed her two front teeth for christmas,

but got a barn for her toy horses anyway,

and who made all the guests a name tag for their place at the table

•  a hostess who invited not only the family but their dogs as well

so that no one would have to leave the celebration early:

seven adults, three children, seven dogs, and two cats

had a stress-free, relaxed, totally fun day!

•  the gift of time–  time to read novels, watch movies, play games,

sleep enough, eat healthy…

oh well, four out of five isn’t bad, right?!

•  the holidays aren’t over yet!!

i hope the holidays are holding a little magic for you as well!!
