be. still. my. heart.

February 21, 2011

oh, my.

today we fell head over heels in love.

again.

smitten.

completely.

you’ve seen their images.

probably didn’t know what they were.

nothing in my horse loving past prepared me for what we found today in fort collins at  parnell’s irish cobs.  never have i walked into a corral and had every horse come right over to be petted.  gently.  softly.  lovingly.

these are the lapdogs of the horse kingdom.

so let me introduce you.

this, dear friends, is…  a gypsy horse, aka irish cob or gypsy vanner.

these mares were sporting fabulous kohl eyeliner.

their tresses were marvelously highlighted and casually plaited.

forelocks were allowed to fall naturally across their eyes.

their legwarmers were stunning.

one fully expected to see a horn protruding through the forelock.

and the eyelashes.  ohhhhh, the eyelashes, often batted over beautiful blue eyes.

some even sported mustaches, though only for the winter months.

even the stallion was a gentle giant.

so we’re getting one.

seriously.

can’t wait.
